Proven leadership delivering results!

During my time on the Kennewick School Board, I led the creation of a first in WA state School Safety Officer Program to help keep students and staff safe. We worked with law enforcement and school leaders to place trained safety officers in our buildings, creating a visible presence that deters threats and provides quick response when needed. Our goal was simple: make sure every child can learn in a secure, supportive environment and every parent can feel confident their student is protected. Prioritizing safety isn’t just common sense—it’s a responsibility we owe to our community.

While serving on the Kennewick School Board, I stood with parents, athletes, and coaches to defend fairness and safety in girls’ sports. Kennewick took a clear stand that athletic competition should be fair and based on biological differences, ensuring girls are not placed at a disadvantage or put at risk. When state policies failed to protect those principles, we took the issue further— filing of a federal complaint to challenge rules that undermined equal opportunities for female athletes. This was about standing up for girls, respecting Title IX, and having the courage to act when common sense and fairness were ignored.

While serving on the Kennewick School Board, I led the district’s clear commitment to keeping political ideology out of the classroom. Kennewick adopted a policy ensuring instruction remains focused on academic standards and factual history—not divisive theories like Critical Race Theory. Our classrooms should be places where every student is treated as an individual, learning how to think critically, not being labeled or divided by race. This was about respecting parents, protecting kids, and keeping the focus where it belongs: education.

When Washington lawmakers passed HB 1296, I didn’t just complain about it—I took action. I became the lead plaintiff in a lawsuit against the State of Washington to challenge a law that overreaches, infringes on constitutional rights, and ignores the voices of law-abiding citizens. This wasn’t about politics or headlines; it was about standing up when the state went too far and defending fundamental freedoms. Leadership means having the courage to fight back when government oversteps—and that’s exactly what I did.

While serving on the Kennewick School Board, I helped ensure the district maintained one of the top school budgets in Washington among large districts, reflecting sound financial planning and disciplined stewardship. Kennewick earned a financial health rating of 3.7 out of 4, showing strong reserves, stable operations, and accountability to taxpayers. By prioritizing classroom needs, protecting core programs, and planning for the long term, we delivered a budget that supports student success without unnecessary cost burdens on families. Good budgets don’t happen by accident—they require leadership, accountability, and a commitment to doing things the right way.

While serving on the Kennewick School Board, I helped deliver real tax relief for local families—without sacrificing the quality of our schools. Before my service, the district’s school taxes were $4 per $1,000 of assessed value. Through responsible budgeting and disciplined financial decisions, we helped reduce that rate to $3 per $1,000, easing the burden on homeowners and taxpayers. This proved that you can fund strong schools, plan for the future, and still respect the people who pay the bills when leadership focuses on priorities and accountability.

While serving on the Kennewick School Board, I worked to make sure our district’s curriculum reflects age-appropriate, common-sense education standards and respects the values of parents and families. Washington state law requires comprehensive sexual health education that is medically accurate and age-appropriate, with opportunities for parents to review materials and opt their children out of instruction. I supported ensuring that the district carefully reviewed and selected curriculum materials that meet those standards and avoid inappropriate content, giving parents confidence that what’s taught in our schools focuses on health, respect, and facts—all while aligning with legal requirements and community expectations

While on the Kennewick School Board, I introduced a resolution opposing any state-mandated COVID-19 vaccine requirement for K-12 students, affirming that vaccination decisions should remain between families and their doctors, not imposed by Olympia. The board made this clear by formally opposing adding the COVID-19 vaccine to the list of required immunizations, submitting our resolution to the state Board of Health and emphasizing respect for individual choice and local control, even as we encouraged voluntary access for those who wanted it. This was about protecting parental rights, avoiding unnecessary administrative burdens, and keeping our focus on student well-being and education
